Photoshop Take 3

In a desperate attempt to blog about anything else BUT food, I chanced upon one of XiaXue's (Singaporean Top Blogger) old blog posts HERE. Of course the contest ended like a gazillion years ago but if you remember the old posts I did with my own PHOTO, and Zac Efron's MAKEOVER, photoshopping pictures came as something very random to me.

So I did this on my Mac and iPhone (Fotolr and FaceCam).

Original:

Post editing:

Yes ignore the wobbly lines on her neck, I did this at close to 3am in the morning so by the time I finished carefully editing her hair and face, I could hardly be bothered by her neck. O_O

Side by side:

Whaddaya think?

*edits*

Yes I know I could have done better with the hair and nose. I don't claim to be a Photoshop expert - still at the experimental phase. Thank you!

Crystal Jade @Clementi, Singapore

Yes I am aware that this is fast becoming a food blog. I just can't stop myself from eating!

Mission: find other things to blog about

Anyhoo... we decided to visit Clementi for lunch one afternoon cause we'd just about enough of campus food.

Crystal Jade:

Appetizer:

Porridge:

Noodles:

Awesome fried rice:

Watercress Soup:

Fried Mee Hoon:

Price: 5/10. WAY overpriced.
Food: 6/10. Not a big fan of most of the dishes. Except the fried rice, and I've tasted better.
Verdict: Wouldn't make a second visit.

Unreasonable Hypocrite

Can you even hear yourself?

If you know, why do you still do it? Causing the people around you so much pain is a joke to you?

"You're just trying to be irritating."

Am I now?

Since you think I can't say anything without coming across as being insufferably annoying INTENTIONALLY, I shan't say a word then, happy?

Not - A - Word.

Call me childish but I'm not about to waste my time, effort and sanity on someone who doesn't effing appreciate it.

A Year Too Long

It was Mother's Day last month. I knew it was Mother's Day because it coincided with Popo's birthday. We usually celebrate it with the whole family, at some Chinese restaurant with cake, wine, lots of chats and laughter. It seems like the most natural thing to do, celebrating Mother's Day and Popo's birthday together, because Popo embodies everything that a mother should be.

Sadly, none of us felt like celebrating it this year. My sis and I thought of doing something special for mom but it seemed so empty and painful that we just didn't bother in the end.

It's funny how I still cry myself to sleep sometimes, remembering all the things we used to do together. My siblings and I would take turns standing on that high stool in her kitchen and watched as she cooked, she'd buy us ice cream after working us hard at the swimming pool, cut fruits for us as we lounged about in her living room, whipped up the nastiest but most effective remedies when we were ill, listened to us when we complained to her about school...

Going back to her house is always bittersweet, cause memories of her are everywhere. She loved each and everyone of us unconditionally, and it hurts that I couldn't do as much as I should have done for her before she had to leave.

Just last year, we celebrated Popo's birthday at a vegetarian restaurant with our extended family. She looked happy, smiling throughout the entire evening, and laughing at every joke we made. One year later, we've all changed. I fully realize now how precious time is, and that I should make each moment count. The naive me always thought that Popo would be around even after I have my own children (if that ever happens XD).

Popo's Birthday/Mother's Day 2011:

So don't wait to spend time with your loved ones. They are the only ones who will be there for you if everyone else turns against you.

Hong Kong Xin Wang Cafe, Singapore

It's no surprise, and certainly no secret that Malaysians LOVE to eat. So at the end of the semester, Chai Suang, Chow Shern, James and I headed out to West Coast Plaza for dinner!

If you're the "Char Chan Teng" (cross between cafe and restaurant - and I don't mean McDonalds) kind of person, then this is the place to go. They have a lot of branches around Singapore, but this is the one we patronize (cause it's near la):

West Coast Plaza
154 West Coast Road #B1-04
West Coast Plaza
Singapore 127371
Tel: +65-6779 1526
Business Hours:
Monday to Friday and Eve of PH
– 11am to 4am
Saturday, Sunday and PH – 9am to 4am

And check out their menu: HERE!

Yummylicious!

Awesome coconut drink:

Chicken chop & Spaghetti:

Fish n' Chips!

A snack we shared:

Dessert!

Price: 8/10. Reasonable for a simple night out with friends.
Food: 7/10. The spaghetti was great and so were the snacks and drinks, but the chicken wasn't very fresh. I was happier with the food on our previous visit so maybe it's just coincidence.
Verdict: Will go back there again, but avoid the CHICKEN!
