Now, who said black was boring? *points gun*

I got hooked browsing through a fashion blog I discovered just last night (morning? XD) by 2 Singaporean bloggers - Dawn and Arissa.

This is what the blog looks like:

One of my favorites were by Dawn:

Simple and understated. I like Arissa's outfit ideas too, but most of them are too edgy for me:

I've been telling James that I want to break the habit of dressing in blue(s), white(s), black(s) and grey(s), but it's really hard! Especially since I can't (convincingly) pull off colors like red or orange - I'm not Guan Yu, who can wear a purple jacket, blue tee, red shorts, orange shoes and still look decent, the only pink thing I own are my pajama shorts. *frown*

It doesn't help that I'm not a very adventurous person, fashion-wise. Not that I don't want to be, but the climate in Singapore is so humid and unpredictable (you never know when it's gonna rain), my daily ensemble = mono-colored tee + dark jeans + flip flops/sneakers. I dress up more in KL cause I drive around, don't have the time/patience to do so here.

But now I'm quite content to go back to monochromatic colors (they're so much more practical, anyway). All I have to do is learn to mix and match better. Dawn and Arissa shall be my new inspiration(s)!

Okay, minus their accessories because I really can't be stuffed "blinging" myself, and it's a pain if I want to practice with bracelets and necklaces clinking and clanging --- No Thank You.

Sephora Haul 2011

James had gone on exchange for the last few months of 2011 and I asked him to get me some items from Sephora. *grin* He also got a few other trinkets for me. <3

First up, Too Faced "Sweet Dreams" palette from Sephora:

Pretty huh? And that's only the box.

This is the palette:

Inside:

Closer look at the colors:

I've yet to try all of them, but my favorites by far are "Peach Fuzz", "Copper Peony" and "Satin Sheets".

SURPRISE! There's another compartment that slides out:

Yes, those are blushers and bronzers. LOVE the cocoa rose - not too pink, not too bronze.

They even have suggested eye "looks":

Deluxe Antibacterial Brush Set, by Sephora:

I adore the pouch, and the brushes are SUPER soft!

The palette also includes this:

Too Faced's "Shadow Insurance" eye shadow primer. I haven't used it yet cause I still have my Urban Decay one (which is god-sent).

James got these for me:

M&M crystal earrings! CUTE!

Anyhoo, I really should be sleeping now. Just got back from dinner + chilling out + supper with Xing Lin and Guan Yu so I'm pretty beat. Nights!

Nothing's Ever The Same

You were always there, the biggest influence in all our lives, constantly guiding us with words of wisdom. 99.9% of the values I hold on to now, were taught and influenced by you.

I'm going home for Chinese New Year tomorrow, and I'm half looking forward to it, and the other half of me is dreading it. Without you here, it's never going to be the same. The festivities that we celebrate every year suddenly feel completely empty.

We insisted you come with us to Macau, and it was (and always will be) one of the best family holidays I've ever had, if only because you were with us:

Your legs were weak, but you didn't let it ruin your mood. At times, you would even insist on getting off the wheelchair to walk because - quote - "I'm not an invalid".

You came for my concerts - you were my biggest supporter:

You cooked feasts for us even though you couldn't stand for too long.

The customary lounging we do before you walk in and declare that the food is ready:

What we look forward to every Chinese New Year:

It pains me to realize that I will never see your face when I graduate, when (if) I get married, turn to you for advice, note down your awesome recipes etc. Tears threaten to pour every time I remember us just sitting in your living room, talking nineteen to the dozen while watching the Hokkien shows that you loved. Or me coming back from school and telling you everything - what my friends said, what the teachers did (or did not do - teach).

Nothing will ever be the same, and we all miss you to bits. I'm banking on the fact that we will meet again, but till then...

I'll play pretend, and imagine you're still around us, cause that way it's less painful.

Embracing Sisterhood

Lou and I went out (again), just the 2 of us - to Pavilion. I know I know... why aren't I sick of the place? Mainly because it isn't as congested as KLCC, it's got everything I need (cinema + Forever21) and parking spaces are relatively easy to find compared to say... Mid Valley.

Anyways...

I cannot stress this enough, but I - AM - AN - ICECREAM - ADDICT. I swear, I cannot walk past an ice cream place and NOT want to get some. So that day, I caved into my sister's (and my own) cravings and we each got:
Chocolate + Cookies and Cream
*Droolzzzzzzz*

Got them from "Gelatomio". I don't know where their other branches are, but this one's right outside Forever21. #happyface

Sister's:
Black Sesame + Vanilla
My Shopping:

Bought 2 tops from Forever21, which were ON DISCOUNT! And inside the Club 21 bag is my awesome DKNY 2-way jacket which I'm absolutely in love with. My aunt got it for me as a Christmas present! I'll take a picture and post it up if I remember.

Found this exceedingly amusing:

I didn't know Ted Baker was into Turkeys. *frown*

Sis and I then had dinner at the Food Republic (being economical):
Bulgogi (Korean)

We watched a movie after dinner, but I can't for the life of me remember what is it we watched. Age catching up on me dammit!

Popcorn:

Almost empty cinema WTF:

MPYO concert and Dad's Birthday up next!

Renovation

I'm unhappy with my blog layout.

Again.

Bear with me while I do major refurnishing a little tweaking, and I'd love for some suggestions! Constructive ones only, please and thank you. I want my blog to take on a simple, yet unique outlook. And because I blog about everything from food to shopping, I'm not sure what kind of theme I should be driving at. If you don't want to publish your comments publicly on my blog, e-mail me at:

clarissa2104@gmail.com

Meanwhile, I'll keep blogging so keep your eye out for updates! Thank you!

New Year, New Start?

Reckon you're doing well in your New Year Resolutions?

I don't make a habit of writing a list, cause I'll break every single one of them within the first 10 minutes of the new year. I do better WITHOUT the darn list. Yes, I'm weird that way.

In any case, it's gonna be a busy year for me. Lots of projects coming up, and I'll try to blog as often as I can. But no promises!

Heading back to KL for Chinese New Year.

Can't wait!

Pre-Christmas Shopping in Pavilion and KLCC

I can't be stuffed blogging about these 2 occasions separately so I'm gonna lump them into one. #space-efficientblogger

Pavilion, KL all decked out for Christmas:

We were at Dome's for lunch:

Sis browsing through the menu:

Earl Grey Tea:

MUSHROOM SOUP!!!!!

Oh Em Gee this is always a MUST-HAVE for me when I'm at Dome's. The creamy texture of the soup and chunky mushrooms bits are to - die - for. No kidding.

Awesome Caesar Salad:

Cappuccino:

Their cappuccino is always top-notch. I have no idea how they do it. I've been a loyal patron of Dome's for many many years and the stuff on their menu have gone up and down in quality (and yumminess) but the Cappuccino is almost always perfecto!

Mom and I:

Was an awesome day out with the girls in the family - just me, sis, aunt and mom.

The next day, my sis and I found ourselves back in Dome's, this time at KLCC for some personal shopping!

Interior:

Mushroom pie:

My sis ALWAYS gets this in Dome's. But I can hardly fault her cause it's totally drool-worthy. You can have the choice of chicken or beef filling but I personally prefer the chicken.

We grabbed Garrett's before heading home:

Was waiting outside my brother's school:

Now. . . for the shopping haul!

Urban Decay Eye Shadow Primer:

It's a god-sent, I swear. My eye make up stays on for HOURS after I started using this! And you don't have to apply much on your lids to hold the make up. (So for people like me who seldom put on make up, this small bottle will last for ages!)

Shorts from Padini and SEED:

Super comfy and they were both on 70% off at Isetan! Both at under RM50 (that's like. . . SGD20), just HAD to get them.

Bought underwear as well, but I'm not about to publish photos of those. *frown* they're all in this bag:
